A girl in a flowing toga-like garb sits holding a lap full of grapes and other fruit. Behind her trees frame a round setting sun.
Parrish painted October and submitted it to a competition held by Scribner’s for their May and August 1898 covers. Parrish was one of about 20 artists asked to compete. Finally published on the cover of Scribner’s Magazine, October 1900.
