Initial title: Cinderella. Originally painted for Hearst’s Magazine, instead used as a cover for Harper’s Bazaar, March 1914. Later retitled Enchantment for the 1926 General Electric Mazda Lamp Calendar.

Parrish painted October and submitted it to a competition held by Scribner’s for their May and August 1898 covers. Parrish was one of about 20 artists asked to compete. Finally published on the cover of Scribner’s Magazine, October 1900.
